On bright sunny days when life is going easy, it is effortless to feel peace. The challenge comes when it is a stormy day. It is harder to find peace when we are alone and surviving life, or so tired that it is difficult to get up from the bed. We can find much joy and peace out there. I know how tough it is in action, but remember you are tough too. We have been through this before. We will get through even this time.
But the moment we take the first step of getting through this, is what will be worthwhile for us. We can make ourselves understand that this feeling is temporary and will go like a tide. We will have a good day tomorrow.
I could find something to feel light when things are tough. You can give yourself the gift of living one hour at a time. Let’s say it is 5:30 PM. All you have to do the best until the next 1 hour. During this period you need not worry about tomorrow’s meeting or will you crack the entrance test or not?
We need to make sure that we are living in now. And living in this hour will make us through the remaining hours of the day. I know it is easier said than done. Give it a try but.
The next thing I tried to help find serenity was loving myself. Eat good, but don’t beat yourself up if you don’t get all your vegetables. Go cloud watching. Take another route to work. Do something very entertaining. Love yourself by finding happiness in little things in life.
Say no to others, and say yes to your self-care. Take a self-care break by getting outside. Get fifteen minutes of sun.
The third thing that helped me was to get busy. Don’t just sit around worrying, do something. Even if you don’t have a lot of energy, you can still find something small to do to make your life better. You can read if you are among one of the readers. You may join a dance or music class to collect joys of life. You can do any such thing which ‘you’ like. It can be different for each of us.
Finally, all we can do is accept and let go. But if something negative from the past, something someone said or did is still on your mind, then accept it and let go that feeling and thought. Instead of trying to push it away. We can try to ignore . After all ‘Ignorance is bliss.’
It is impossible to skip the difficult days in life but yes we can find ways to get through them. And throwing light in our dark days by practising gratitude, love and letting go.
