As and when your alarm blinks right in the morning, you snooze the alarm as many times you can but finally take the courage to open your eyes.
And you end up scrolling through your phone. Going through the emails and missed calls. You find your entire day to be packed up with deadlines. And from this first moment of the day, you worry about how to achieve these targets.
It is an old perception that if you win the morning, you win the day. I have learned strategies from some of the world’s most successful personalities. Each has something unique that could bring you peace and give the energy to get on with the day.
If you don’t have ten spare minutes to work on yourself every morning, then you don’t have a life.
For me, the day starts by:
- Pray and ask for help, gratitude and strength for the day.
- Next, I meditate for ten to 20 minutes. I would recommend an app called headspace, which helped me guide and track my meditation. Meditation fills me with “hope, a sense of contentment and deep joy.”
- For about 5 minutes I practice light exercise followed by morning tea. And henceforth my morning rituals end on a positive note.
Other things you can add to your list which can improve your productivity and boost energy levels:
You can “tune yourself in” by going for a walk, listening to music or preparing a nice meal. And add carbohydrates protein and fibre in your morning meal.
You may opt for green tea and stay hydrated with orange juice and plenty of water.
The late, great Steve Jobs. He would say “If today was the last day of your life, would you be happy with what you are about to do today?”If the answer is “no” for too many days in a row, you need to find knew something that needs to be changed.
Try saying positive affirmations. They have been scientifically shown to work especially for future-oriented thinking. they are worth experimenting with, but don’t continue if it doesn’t feel right for you.
Avoid using technology for at least half an hour post waking up. Moving your body some way in the morning will get your endorphins flowing, which will put you up in a better mood.
Following the path to a healthier, stronger you start with a single step and the decision to try. Setting the morning on the right foot can make up your entire day, helping you to make better health commitments.
